2024 Boys Town Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

The Boys Town Demetree Campus hosted another memorable evening during the 2024 Boys Town Annual Christmas Tree Lighting. This cherished event, now in its 38th year, once again brought the community together to celebrate the season and support the mission of Boys Town Central Florida.

The Oviedo High School ROTC started the evening with a flag presentation, followed by a prayer led by Pastor Jim Lynch of East Coast Believer’s Church. Bridgett Ellison of WKMG TV/News 6 was the emcee, sharing information about Boys Town, the Giving Tree, activities for the night, and welcoming each speaker to the stage. Executive Director Laurie Stern presented the 2024 Heart of Giving Award to the Holland family, recognizing their outstanding contributions to Boys Town Central Florida.

Attendees also heard from Mr. and Mrs. Rooks, long-time family teachers, who shared insights into their decade of dedication to Boys Town. Several Boys Town youth took to the stage to share their inspiring stories, highlighting the impact of the organization’s work. The Seminole High School Festival Choir performed Christmas favorites throughout the program and sang “Here Comes Santa Claus” to kick off Santa Dan’s grand arrival, escorted by the Oviedo Fire Department.

Attendees were encouraged to explore the Boys Town campus and partake in the various activities available. Bellies were filled throughout the journey thanks to the delicious food trucks and booths hosted by food sponsors. DJ Sisco kept the atmosphere lively with holiday tunes while the kids enjoyed bouncing around in the Ladies 327 Kid Zone. Guests toured five decorated family homes, each with a unique Christmas theme ranging from the Grinch to a winter wonderland. They also participated in voting for their favorite home as well as their favorite gingerbread door, adding a fun and interactive element to the night.

All in all, the night was nothing short of magical. The Demetree family, for whom this cause is especially close to their hearts, is proud to support Boys Town and its mission to create lasting change in the lives of youth.
