Demetree Spotlight: Dack Vaught
Vice President of Construction | Demetree Global
At Demetree Global, the success of every project begins with the people behind it, and few play a more pivotal role in shaping our development projects than Dack Vaught, our Vice President of Construction. With a hands-on leadership style, decades of experience, and a sharp eye for execution, Dack is the momentum behind some of Demetree Global’s most complex and ambitious projects.
From the Ground Up: How Dack Got Here
Dack’s journey into construction began early, long before he ever set foot on a university campus or a commercial jobsite. Growing up in Seattle, he spent his summers working alongside his father, a general contractor, learning the trade from the ground up. From hanging drywall to cutting tile and running electrical wiring, Dack experienced every aspect of the construction process firsthand.
That foundation sparked a passion for design, leading him to study Architecture at the University of Florida. While working with architects and engineers during school, Dack realized that his practical experience gave him a unique edge. He shifted into Building Construction, earning an engineering-based Construction Management degree and eventually joining Suffolk Construction, one of the country’s largest general contractors, right out of school. Over time, Dack built an impressive portfolio of large-scale commercial and high-rise projects.
His transition to the ownership side came while overseeing all capital improvements at the Disney Swan and Dolphin resort. When the pandemic changed course for many in the industry, Dack found his next opportunity at Demetree Global.
Leading Projects with Purpose
As Vice President of Construction, Dack wears many hats. His days often include meetings with architects and engineers, budget reviews, permitting discussions with city and county officials, and on-site walk-throughs to resolve real-time challenges. Whether planning new developments or managing active builds, he brings clarity and momentum to every stage of the process.
One of Dack’s proudest accomplishments at Demetree Global is The Paseo at Collegiate Village - a legacy project deeply rooted in the company’s history. As the largest and longest-running development to date, it began well before Dack joined the team, making his role in carrying it forward all the more meaningful. He’s also recently achieved a major milestone - securing approval for the long-anticipated London Cove project in Cocoa after four years of persistence and teamwork.
When asked what sets Demetree apart, Dack highlights the personal nature of a privately held company. “Everything has a much more personal touch,” he says, which aligns with the collaborative relationships he’s built across departments - from property management to development.
Looking ahead, Dack is especially excited about the large-scale projects on the horizon: “I love big builds, and seeing some of the concepts we’ve been talking about come to life is what keeps me going.”
Currently, Dack is leading several exciting developments that reflect both the momentum and diversity of Demetree Global’s pipeline. Among them are two mini storage facilities underway in Satellite Beach and Jacksonville, as well as two ground-up development projects on raw land. The first is a 4.46-acre site in Forest City being designed for multi-tenant retail and office warehouse use, while the second spans 20 acres in Cocoa, planned to feature seven retail outparcels and a multi-unit residential component.
In addition, Dack is helping lay the groundwork for a unique, high-end concept that combines dining, wellness, and experience in a two-story format. While details are still under wraps, the project represents a key piece of a broader vision championed by Chairwoman Mary Demetree — an ambitious endeavor we will see come to life in the years ahead.
Off the Clock and Looking Ahead
When Dack isn’t leading construction projects, you’ll likely find him on the golf course, planning his next trip, or behind the DJ booth. He’s been an established presence in the local music scene since the ’90s (think clubs, not wedding receptions).
He’s also passionate about giving back. Since 2013, Dack has served on the Board for Guys with Ties Philanthropy, helping to organize events that raise money for Central Florida charities.
One piece of advice he lives by? “Don’t promise something if it’s not possible - it only sets everyone up for failure.” It’s a mindset that’s earned him credibility and consistency throughout his career.
As for what’s ahead, Dack is currently pursuing his General Contractor license - yet another step in a career marked by growth and determination. Beginning in 2026, he’ll lead Demetree Global’s internal general contracting work, with plans to expand into third-party GC services as part of our evolving offerings. At Demetree Global, we can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes him and how it will help shape the future of our company.
